Goodera

Senior Product Manager

My role evolved from that of a product manager to that of a senior product manager. I managed the development process so that it aligned with the customer needs and business goals. User experience artifacts (user stories, product specifications, wireframes) that form the basis for product vision, roadmap, and development were created. I worked closely with cross-functional teams and the engineering teams to lead product development and decide the priority of different features.

Takshashila Way

I developed and trained over 3000 users to use an automated reporting and data management module for academic performance management and lesson planning. School teachers and management were empowered to become data driven and use tech, innovative pedagogical methods to improve learning outcomes in grade 5-7.

QnA

At UCB, I got the opportunity to pursue a Masters in Engineering along with MBA (within the stipulated time frame of the MBA itself). As a part of the data analytics course, I worked on a Twitter sentiment analysis project. During this project, I got exposed to the kind of language people use, and the toxicity it produces. There is widespread hatred for certain communities, and those communities weren’t solving it. I decided to design a Slackbot that could make people sensitive about the language they’re speaking. The idea was appreciated, and it got funding from UCB.
UCB lays a strong emphasis on ‘Innovation’ and ‘Leadership Principles’. UCB taught me how to become a humble yet confident leader. The best part is the culture at UCB - it is really sensitive to inclusion and diversity related matters.
Though I had an offer on-campus really early into the placement season, I decided to go ahead with Takshashila Way as I was inclined towards entrepreneurship. Here, I developed a software tool that automated reporting and data management modules for academic performance management and lesson planning. For these two years, I didn’t have a stable income. But I’m happy as the product was really appreciated when it was handed over to the schools. Takshashila Way made me realize social impact can be done in a scalable manner through tech.
Most of the customers I dealt with at Goodera were US-based. While in the States, I got the chance to explore the UCB campus, and I fell in love with it. At that point of time, I just wanted to study in this campus, not particularly do an MBA. After talking to my manager at Goodera, and a couple of seniors at UCB, I made the decision to pursue an MBA there.
